چکیده

Randomly collected samples of parsley and celery from different localities were analyzed to determine their quality based on arsenic concentrations, phenolic constituents the antioxidant capacity edible parts. Arsenic concentrations found in range: root (0.16 μg/g d.m.) < (0.19 leaf (0.35 (0.45 d.m.). Total contents roots similar both species varied significantly depending cultivation site: 5.03-9.18 mg eqGA/g DE 5.04-8.50 celery. Lower total flavonoids content was recorded Among acids, ferulic, chlorogenic several cinnamic acids dominated. Apigenin its glucosides dominated among flavonoids. Based principal component analysis (PCA) it can be concluded that As geographical origin samples. Also, compounds showed a significant contribution PCA clustirng, indicating site has clear impact metabolites profile, while plants did not affect compound profile.

Pectate hydrolases of parsley (Petroselinum crispum) roots.

The presence of various enzyme forms with terminal action pattern on pectate was evaluated in a protein mixture obtained from parsley roots. Enzymes found in the soluble fraction of roots (juice) were purified to homogeneity according to SDS-PAGE, partially separated by preparative isoelectric focusing and characterized. Three forms with pH optima 3.6, 4.2 and 4.6 clearly preferred substrates w...

Effects of calcium peroxide on arsenic uptake by celery (Apium graveolens L.) grown in arsenic contaminated soil.

The ability of calcium peroxide (CaO(2)) to immobilize As of contaminated soil was studied using pot and field experiments. In pot experiment, CaO(2) applied at 2.5 and 5 g kg(-1) significantly increased celery shoot weight and decreased shoot As accumulation, which was ascribed to the formation of stable crystalline Fe and Al oxides bound As and the reduction of labile As fractions in the soil...

Biochemical Changes in Two Parsley (Petroselinum crispum L.) Varieties during Saline Stress

Parsley root has been used medicinally since ancient times for possible medicinal qualities including antioxidative, antimicrobial, laxative, antihy-perlipidemic, anticoagulant and antihepatotoxic (1). The parsley importance is attributed to its high vitamins content (mainly vitamins C), anti-oxidants, and some mineral elements such as iron, as well as volatile oils that play an important role ...

A systematic approach for extraction of phenolic compounds using parsley (Petroselinum crispum) flakes as a model substrate

The impact of extraction methodology and polarity of extraction solvents on the assay of phenolic compounds was investigated using parsley (Petroselinum crispum) flakes as a model substrate. This systematic study was undertaken to address substantial variations in the extraction procedures, solvents and conditions as described in the recent literature. Five different extraction procedures [shak...

Biosynthesis of Sucrose and Mannitol as a Function of Leaf Age in Celery (Apium graveolens L.).

In celery (Apium graveolens L.), the two major translocated carbohydrates are sucrose and the acyclic polyol mannitol. Their metabolism, however, is different and their specific functions are uncertain. To compare their roles in carbon partitioning and sink-source transitions, developmental changes in (14)CO(2) labeling, pool sizes, and key enzyme activities in leaf tissues were examined. The p...
